The reason for staying in the mountains is the sunrise in Haleakala National Park on 9740 ft = 2969m. From one edge of the tourist hotel locations on the west coast you have to get up REALLY early to be able to grab a parking space. And with no parking no sunrise auf'm mountain! We were pretty close, so had to get up until around 4:30 am. Around 4:48 am we were sitting in the car and had to drive 1 hour. And yet we were too late, never came to the Supreme Parking. But that makes only a few meters. The sunrise was at 6:20 am It was cold. And I was sick. Headache and body aches and fever AND bissl this height! I was kotzschlecht. I could just hold still so on the legs. The sunrise was first class!
